Day by day

Day 1 — Nairobi to Meru Untamed Frontier & Riverine Drive

Depart Nairobi early in the morning in a custom-built 4x4 safari land cruiser, driving past the agricultural highlands of Meru and winding around the scenic northern slopes of Mount Kenya. Descend into the lowlands where the terrain opens into lush, palm-fringed rivers and tall elephant grass. Arrive at your luxury safari lodge inside Meru National Park in time for lunch. In the afternoon, head out on your introductory game drive along the Murera and Rojewero rivers. Keep an eye out for massive herds of buffalos, elephants, and specialized northern species like the reticulated giraffe before returning to camp for dinner by the river.

Day 2 — Full Day Predator Tracking & The Rhino Sanctuary

Dedicate the entire day to exploring the diverse habitats of this vast wilderness. Spend the morning tracking Meru's thriving predator populations, including lions, elusive leopards, and cheetahs, which thrive in the park's dense covers. After a luxury picnic lunch under the shade of doum palms, visit the heavily guarded, 80-square-kilometer fenced Meru Rhino Sanctuary. Here, you will experience intimate, close-up encounters with both white and black rhinos grazing along the plains. Conclude your afternoon by driving up to Mughwango Hill for a sweeping, panoramic sunset view over the entire park expanse.

Day 3 — Dawn Trail to Elsa's Camp & Return Route to Nairobi

Awaken to the mist rising off the marshlands for a dawn game drive. Visit the historical sites tied to conservation history, driving toward the Tana River confluence and the gravesite of Elsa the lioness. This early morning window offers excellent birdwatching opportunities among the park's 400 recorded species. Return to the lodge for a full mid-morning breakfast before packing up and checking out. Enjoy a final, relaxed en-route game drive as you head toward the main gates, arriving back in Nairobi by late afternoon.
