Day 1: Entebbe/Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

Drive Time: 5–6 hours

Highlights: Fort Portal scenic craters, tea plantation landscapes

Route Summary: Depart from Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning and head west toward Fort Portal. The journey takes you through lush green countryside, traditional homesteads, and extensive tea estates. Arrive at your lodge near Kibale Forest for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

Main Activities: Wild chimpanzee habituation tracking, primate viewing, birdwatchingMorning: After a morning briefing at the Kanyanchu visitors center, enter Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world. Track a habituated troop of wild chimpanzees and observe them feeding, playing, and swinging through the canopy. Afternoon: Take a guided nature walk through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run bio-network famous for spotting rare birds like the Great Blue Turaco, as well as several monkey species (colobus, red-tailed, and L'Hoest's monkeys).

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kazinga Channel

Drive Time: 2–3 hoursHighlights: Savannah game drive, Kazinga Channel boat cruise, hippo pods Morning: Travel south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. Embark on an introductory game drive to spot African bush elephants, Cape buffaloes, and Ugandan kobs grazing across the plains.Afternoon: Take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. Day 4: Tree-Climbing Lions of Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Drive Time: 4–5 hoursHighlights: Ishasha sector tracking, mountain gorilla habitat transitionMorning: Drive through the southern Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Keep your eyes on the old fig trees; this is one of the few places in Africa where lions regularly climb branches to rest. Afternoon: Proceed up the rugged ridges to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site housing half of the world's remaining mountain gorilla population. Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience & Return to Kampala

Activity Time: 2–7 hours tracking; 8 hours return driveHighlights: 1 hour with a wild mountain gorilla family, Equator crossing stopoverThe Trek: Following an early morning briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers, venture into the dense, misty slopes of Bwindi. Once you locate your assigned habituated gorilla family, spend a life-changing one hour observing the silverback, females, and playful juveniles. Departure: Head back out of the forest and begin your return drive to Kampala or Entebbe Airport, stopping at the Equator crossing for photographs and souvenirs.
